charbar - a unique historic site at the Simmons Building - is the perfect venue for any occasion. Our spaces naturally reflect the unique heritage charm of the building with wood mill floors, exposed brick walls, tall fir posts and original windows. charbar boasts a perfect historical backdrop for any event.
Our multi-story heritage building is located in the popular and easy to access neighbourhood of East Village, directly next to the stunning Bow River. With multiple outdoor spaces, bustling main floor, and dedicated events spaces, charbar is perfect for events as small as intimate as four people to as bountiful as 500.
The Main Floor at charbar features a large wrap around bar, open kitchen, ceviche bar, and glass doors that open up to our Riverside Patio, which looks out onto riverside pathways, for the ultimate indoor/outdoor event. During the day, the main floor also features businesses Phil and Sebastion Coffee Roasters and Sidewalk Citizen Bakery.
The Second Floor at charbar can be booked privately, or in smaller sections to accommodate events of all sizes. The second floor boasts a large welcoming space, private washrooms, two bars, and opens up to overlook our main dining room for a unique and lively guest experience.

Between plenty of street parking, and several dedicated lots in the neighborhood, there is no shortage of parking day and night. Our Approach to Food
Our approach to food is simple: fresh, sustainable, local. As a chef-owned restaurant, passion and inspiration goes into each dish created here at charbar. Our team of chefs deliver a menu unlike any other in the city.The Argentine wood-fired grill, the parrilla, is the centre of charbar’s identity. The tradition inspires connection with family and community over a shared meal. Co-owner Connie DeSousa mastered and honed her skills and was also a finalist on Top Chef Canada. She inspires the rest of the charbar team to deliver the best.
While our inspiration started with Argentina, our menu reflects locally relevant and globally inspired dishes. From ocean to prairie to garden, there’s something for everyone at our venue.
